What will you learn in this course?

This apprenticeship standard is suitable for Bricklayers whose role involves laying bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures such as chimney stacks. The range of sites and projects that bricklayers work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations. A bricklayer may work one-on-one or on larger jobs where their bricklaying group (gang) may work on a particular section of a building alongside other bricklaying gangs as well as other trades.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

It is desirable that candidates would have achieved a level 2 in Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above) prior to commencing their Apprenticeship training. Those Apprentices who are yet to achieve a level 2 in English and Maths will have the opportunity to complete these qualifications during their Apprenticeship. However, a level 2 must be achieved in these areas before they qualify for entry to their End Point Assessment (EPA).
